OSHA revises electrical installation rules to conform to newest NFPA 70E and NEC codes

OSHA has revised Secs. 1910.302-308 to conform to recent editions of the National Fire Protection Association’s 70E consensus standard Electrical Safety Requirements for Employee Workplaces (2000 edition) and the 2002 edition of the National Electric Code. The final rule becomes effective August 13, 2007. The new standard retains grandfather provisions for older installations. The rules apply to employers in general industry, and in shipyard, longshoring and marine terminals.

OSHA has recognized the U.S. Postal Service's Chula Vista Main Office for excellence in employee safety and health. OSHA welcomed the facility into its Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) at the highest, or "star," level in a ceremony held on April 18 at the Chula Vista, Calif., site, located at 750 Third Ave.
