IRS grants tax relief to victims of severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding in Missouri

The IRS has announced tax relief for taxpayers who reside or have a business in the federal disaster area of Butler, Mississippi, New Madrid, St. Louis, and Taney counties in Missouri affected by severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding on April 19, 2011. The relief extends until June 30, 2011 deadlines for filing most returns, including Form 5500, and paying taxes otherwise due during the period of April 19, 2011 and June 30, 2011. For employment and excise tax deposits due during the period of April 19, 2011 and May 4, 2011, the IRS will waive the failure to deposit penalties if such deposits were made by May 4, 2011.
