The IRS has announced tax relief for taxpayers who reside or have a business in the federal disaster area of Calhoun, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Holmes, Jackson, Lafayette, Liberty, Madison, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Suwannee, Walton, and Washington counties in Florida affected by severe storms, flooding, tornadoes, and straight-line winds on March 26, 2009. The relief extends until May 26, 2009 deadlines for filing most returns, including Form 5500, and paying taxes otherwise due during the period of March 26, 2009 and May 26, 2009. For excise and employment deposits due during the period of March 26, 2009 and April 10, 2009, the IRS will waive the failure to deposit penalties if such deposits were made by April 10, 2009.
