PBGC issues disaster relief for California and Hawaii

The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) has announced relief from certain deadlines and penalties in connection with the Form 5500 series for “designated persons” adversely affected by:

• Wildfires that occurred in mid-November 2008 in California.
• Severe storms and flooding that occurred on December 10, 2008 in Hawaii.

For California, the relief generally extends from November 13, 2008 through February 11, 2009.

For Hawaii, the relief generally extends from December 10, 2008 through February 9, 2009.
