SSA seeks comments on proposed information gathering activities

The Social Security Administration is soliciting comments from the public regarding a particular form after its submission for clearance by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

Specifically, the SSA wants feedback on the need for the information solicited and its practical utility; the accuracy of the agency's burden estimate; ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the manner in which the information is collected; and ways to minimize the burden on respondents, including the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology.

The form for which comments are sought is listed in a notice in the November 19, 2014, Federal Register (79 Fed. Reg. 68951). Comments may be mailed or faxed to the addresses and numbers listed in that notice.

Comments due by December 19, 2014

Comments are due by December 19, 2014, for the following form, which has already been submitted to the OMB for approval: Supplement to Claim of Person Outside the United States (SSA-21 for U.S. citizen, U.S. resident, resident of tax treaty country, nonresident alien; MCS Macros SSA-21). Note that this is a correction notice. The SSA published incorrect burden information in the original notice published on September 11, 2014 (see 79 Fed. Reg. 54341).
