On November 8, 2013, the SSA announced a new administrative fee it would begin to charge the public for detailed yearly Social Security earnings information. The agency charges administrative fees to recover its full costs when it provides information and related services for nonprogram purposes. The SSA is now announcing an updated standard fee as part of its continuing effort to standardize fees for nonprogram information requests.
Standard fee increases to $136
Based on the most recent cost analysis, the agency has determined the new standard fee for detailed yearly Social Security earnings information will be $136 for each request. The SSA will certify the detailed earnings information for an additional $56. (Note: Certification is usually not necessary.) The agency based this updated standard fee on its most recent cost calculations for supplying the information and the standard fee methodology previously published in the Federal Register. The SSA will continue to evaluate all standard fees at least every two years. The changes become effective for requests received on or after November 15, 2014 (79 Fed. Reg. 66445, November 7, 2014).
