OSHA’s semiannual regulatory agenda issued
OSHA’s latest semiannual agenda has been issued, showing the regulations that have been selected for review or development during the coming year. It contains progress on actions underway, including:
- The proposed rule on Occupational Exposure to Crystalline Silica’s peer review of health effects and risk should be completed in September 2007.
- A request for information concerning Emergency Response and Preparedness will be issued in July 2007 to help determine what steps to take to address the full range of hazards or concerns facing emergency responders.
- The review of Lead in Construction is to be completed in July 2007.
- The review of Methylene Chloride is to be completed in June 2008.
- A notice of proposed rulemaking on Confined Spaces in Construction will be issued in August 2007. In discussions with the United Steel Workers of America on a settlement agreement for the general industry standard, OSHA agreed to issue a proposed rule to extend confined-space protection to construction workers appropriate to their work environment.
