OSHA Standards for the Construction Industry as of January 2011
This book contains the occupational safety and health standards for the construction industry promulgated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), effective January 2011.
The final rule reinstating OSHA’s original construction and agriculture standards that regulate the testing of roll-over protective structures (ROPS) used to shield employees who operate wheel-type tractors is effective February 27, 2006. OSHA confirmed the effective date after no significant adverse comment was received on the proposed action. February 28, 2006 will be considered the date of issuance for the purpose of judicial review.
OSHA is going back to its original standards because differences were noticed between the national consensus standards for substantive ROPS-testing requirements that were adopted in 1996 and the original standards that contained detailed ROPS-testing standards. Those differences had an impact on the regulated community. OSHA found that reinstating the original OSHA standards through a direct final rule was necessary and appropriate; it published the direct final rule in the Federal Register on December 29, 2005.
