IRS grants tax relief to victims of severe storms and flooding in Massachusetts

The IRS has announced in IRS News Release MA-2010-15 tax relief for taxpayers who reside or have a business in the federal disaster area of Bristol, Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk, and Worchester counties in Massachusetts affected by severe storms and flooding beginning on March 12, 2010. The relief extends until May 11, 2010 deadlines for filing most returns, including Form 5500, and paying taxes otherwise due during the period of March 12, 2010 and May 11, 2010. For excise and employment deposits due during the period of March 12, 2010 and March 29, 2010, the IRS will waive the failure to deposit penalties if such deposits were made by March 29, 2010.
