Oklahoma notice discusses change in military pay exclusion

The $1,500 military pay exclusion from Oklahoma personal income tax increased to a 100% exclusion of an active duty member's military pay received after July 1, 2010. Active duty military members should have continued to withhold Oklahoma income tax on military pay received between January 1, 2010, and June 30, 2010. Military pay received after July 1, 2010, is exempt from Oklahoma personal income tax withholding. A worksheet will be provided in the 2010 personal income tax packet to help affected taxpayers determine the exclusion. (Informational Notice, Oklahoma Tax Commission, July 14, 2010; Frequently Asked Questions, Oklahoma Tax Commission, July 15, 2010.)
