The Mississippi Tax Commission has issued a release for corporate and personal income taxpayers that summarizes the instructions for the 2009 annual information return and offers additional help regarding the filing of 2009 W-2s after January 31, 2010. The release reminds taxpayers that all employers with 99 or fewer W-2s have until January 31, 2010, to file paper W-2s. If filing after that date, only electronic filing is acceptable. Mississippi accepts W-2s in three different electronic formats: (1) EFW2 format; (2) excel worksheet format; and (3) annual W-2 summary report format. The release is available on the commission's website at http://www.mstc.state.ms.us/taxareas/withhold/mississippitaxcommission-withholding-summaryofinstructions.html.
